POSITION 2: MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

General Description

Responsible for managing and assisting the outward-facing marketing aspects of Hampshire Council programs, with an emphasis on fee-for-service programs. Assists the Executive Director and department heads in the development and implementation of campaigns aimed to increase the awareness and growth of the Council’s various services. Areas of focus to include business development, outreach, public relations, media relations, strategic partnerships, and the attainment of revenue goals through a robust sales and marketing program aimed at local governments, businesses, and individual consumers.

Reporting and Metrics

  • Reports directly to the Executive Director (Director).

Essential Duties

  • Develops, implements, and coordinates a marketing program with the goal of achieving growth in the Council’s client base, public awareness, and revenue;
  • Establishes and monitors marketing metrics;
  • Coordinates Council public relations and media relations strategies;
  • Actively seeks business development opportunities and assists diverse sales force;
  • Monitors and adjusts marketing strategy in consultation with consultants, department heads and Director;
  • Prepares and presents reports and presentations;
  • May be required to work after hours;
  • Will be required to visit municipalities, clients, and other entities on a regular basis;
  • May be required at times to expend physical efforts and to perform maintenance, housekeeping, kitchen and other ancillary duties necessary to the position which involve bending, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting and carrying of heavy objects, including but not limited to office books and supplies, computers, equipment, furnishings, files, books, trash receptacles, and water cooler bottles;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree and demonstrated enthusiasm for and experience in marketing and communications. 

Required Knowledge, Ability and Skills

  • Experience guiding business operations to and beyond established goals;
  • Successful track record of developing, implementing, and managing ongoing marketing initiatives for a diverse set of services and products;
  • Proven ability to create and execute new strategies, develop new clients, establish markets, and develop long-term relationships with customers, company stakeholders, employees, and vendors;
  • Knowledge of database, finance, customer management and office management software, as well as web and mobile marketing platforms and trends;
  • Experience with writing copy, Press releases, annual reports, marketing materials, etc.;
  • Experience with Social Media marketing;
  • Experience in web based marketing;
  • Very strong copy writing and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong public speaking and presenting skills;
  • Some experience in WordPress and web maintenance preferred.
